Chanel Ad Campaign - Autum/Winter 2011... Here Kitty Kitty...
My new assignment is is to explore a fashion-focused advertising campaign, I can't think of a more perfect assignment and am full speed ahead with this one!
The absurdity of Chanel's new Autumn/Winter campaign jumped right out of my Vogue at me. Karl Lagerfeld of course photographed the beautiful Danish model Freja Beha Erichsen (chosen for her grungy style and eccentricity) and Carine Roitfelt styled the look (her first official project since leaving Vogue Paris!)
In contrast to Chanels classic pristine style Freja is pictured looking disheveled with writing across her face reading “Il n’y a pas de mode si elle ne descend pas dans la rue!” . The famous line is one of Coco Chanel’s most quoted sayings, which translates to “Fashion does not exist unless it goes down into the streets.” .
The second Image shows Freja dressed as a cat, showing off some classic quilted Chanel accessories. As with the quote in the first image, Chanel puts a signature to this image, using camellias as cat ears.
All of the shots were taken in the same Parisian photo booth... this just adds to the grunge and to the strangeness of the campaign. I find the campaign fun and playful, in a dark kind of way! - quite unique :)
Lagerfeld is quoted saying 'The mix with Freja was genious'

There are holes in the sky.
Where the rain gets in.
But they're ever so small.
That's why the rain is thin.

Are these just the most amazing shoes you ever did see?.....
Wow! I wonder if its possible to walk in these? ...hmm, not important.
I need to get myself a fantastic pair of heels for the summer, the kind of shoes that make an outfit! Block heels seem to be the way forward and although I will be investing in these lovelies...

I'm gonna also need a splash of colour - something exciting on my feet :) Will keep you posted on my finds!

Post Festival Blues...
I'm ever so upset that I'm not at Glastonbury this weekend :(
.... however I did have the most fantastic weekend at Isle of Wight Festival so all is not so bad!
Kasabian were immense, especially when Noel Fielding ran onstage. Foo Fighters - Legendary and Tom Jones - No words :)
.... I have to say, the saviour of the weekend was my straw visor, a festival time present from Lucy. Great in the sun.... better in the rain! And the bigger the boots the better, 3 days spent literally stomping round the island. We decided that the rain positively enriched our festival experience....
... I would have loved to work the little denim shorts again this year but mud is the only thing to wear this festival season... it was accessorized well :) Bring on Next Year!
